A Baby Story- Part 2

I hurried and threw a few last minute items into my hospital bag and we loaded up in the van and took off. Rod dropped me off at the hospital and I walked up to the front desk and said, "Hi. I'm here to have a baby." The cute old ladies behind the desk both jumped up and said, "Are you ok? Do you need a wheelchair?!" I just laughed and said, "No, I'm just not sure where to go." The lady directed me to the brand spankin' new women's center and the nurses there put me into a room and got me all hooked up to the monitors. Then Rod, the girls and Rod's mom came. We talked and took some pictures and got some video footage and then the bless-ed moment arrived. (Praise!!)

Me and my girls.

Rod all suited up. He's mighty cute.

The girls with Grandma Ellie.

Finally the time came for me to go to the operating room. The girls walked with us as far as they could and then the nurses took me into the operating room alone. Rod waited outside the door until the anesthesiologist had given me my spinal. Everyone was so nice and I felt so at ease with everything. I loved that they didn't strap my arms down like they did with the other two c-sections I've had. Then Dr. Leavitt and his P.A. Scott came in and the real fun began. :) It was just a few minutes before I heard Scott say that he could see the baby's ear. Then moments later a healthy scream was heard and our new little bundle was born. The anesthesiologist dropped down the curtain that was blocking my view and Dr. Leavitt held her up for me to see.

What is it about that moment when mom and child first see each other?

There's nothing like it. Nothing in the whole wide world.

They whisked her off to clean her up and Rod followed. I listened to her scream and scream and scream and I loved every single second of it. The emotion came and I couldn't stop the tears and smiles. I feel like we waited so long for her and here she was, screaming her little heart out while mine was bursting at the seams. I count my blessings I got to experience that again. For a long time, I didn't think I would.

I know there are so many people who struggle with trying to get these little ones here. I know what it feels like to be one of those people. I understand the high hopes and the disappointment that can come month after month after month. I know what loss feels like. I know it can be discouraging, disappointing and disheartening. I wish I had the answers. But, I do know that every single prayer is heard and no one is ever forgotten. I know that there is a grand plan and that the Master is in charge. I know His time table is far greater than mine. I know when we trust in Him, miracles can happen.

Here's our little miracle.

Absolutely beautiful. You're about to get a whole slew of definitely deserv-ed "Congrats" and all that, so while we're not on the subject, I'd like to just ask,
Are you KIDDING me?! I'm looking at Hallie & Sam with their hair all perfectly, beautifully done (2 french braids on Sam, no less); not to mention you all done up and looking gorgeous -- and unless Rod is secretly some amazing stylist, which I suspect, Rod, that you're not (no offense!), then I'd like to repeat my question: are you kidding me?! I mean, seriously? Seriously. Un-believe-able. Contractions, 90% & @ a 3, and you're able to look smashing and doll up your girls. Where do you come from?!! :)

P.S. Congratulations!

Wow, she is just an absolute angel! So precious! Hooray for the third girl - it's totally the way to go :) So happy for you guys!

Oh, and I do have to agree with Net; I thought the same thing. My girls always look like orphans when I have a baby, and I look like death warmed over. I'm amazed at how perfectly put-together you all look. Are you secretly super heroes?

Hope you're getting some rest now and again!
