5 Things
I won't pretend for one second that I am on top of things here on this blog. The summer days are passing so quickly and I have such good intentions of trying to "keep up." Alas, it's not happening....
So, here are 5 quick highlights from June.
Numero 1: Rod spent a week in Polland on business. He traveled to the city of Chelm and was able to straighten out some issues that needed his attention. We missed him like crazy people but his long trips always, ALWAYS remind me how grateful I am when he is around.
Number 2: Unfortunately his trip overlapped the girls first ballet recital but he was able to sneak in on their dress rehearsal the night before he left and ooooh and ahhhh over their skills. The recital was called, "Through the Woods" and Hallie an Samantha thought it was the neatest thing on earth to wear makeup, a pretty tutu, and dance on that beautiful stage. Hallie was a butterfly and Sam was a canary.

Number 3: This next one here is true love I tell ya! My husband agreed to play the part of my husband in our stake musical, "Be Strong and of Good Courage." I have no idea how I twisted his arm to do it among all the mayhem in his life right now, but he agreed.
And he was awesome!
There was one dress rehearsal where he was suppose to be at a Bishop's training, be studying for a final and on stage all at the same time. He wore his suit to rehearsal and stuck out like sore thumb as all the rest of the cast was in their pioneer get up. He'd do his part on stage, run to the meeting and wait for a text from me to tell him he had 2 minutes to get back up on stage. He'd run back to the stage, do his part and then back to the meeting. When the meeting was over, when he wasn't on stage, he'd have his macbook on his lap and was studying like a mad man for his final. I would just look out at him and sigh! I don't know how he does it...but he does. I am so thankful we were able to do this as a family. It is a memory we will have forever.
The musical was a story about the Willie and Martin handcart companies and their travels to Utah in 1856. My great, great, great Grandma was one of the survivors and I played the part of her. It was a humbling experience for me. She was newly married as she started the trek west and was pregnant with her first baby. She lost her baby along the way. She lost her husband, her mother and her father as well. She was unconscious and frozen when a man named William Simmons rescued her. She later became his wife. They had a son named Eli, who had a son named David, who had a son named Dale, who had a son named Darrell, who had a daughter named Kylene. And there ya have it.
I am so thankful for her. For her testimony, her courage and her faith.
Number 4: Rod performed his first wedding.
He did a fantastic job. I still feel like we're just young kids flying by the seat of our pants when we get involved with things like this but, hey, enjoy the ride right?!
Number 5: I snapped this today to document my expanding (oh, how it is expanding) waistline. Things are going well with this new little addition and we are as thrilled as can be to meet her. We can't agree on a name to save our lives so, feel free to offer suggestions. :) Samantha sings to me the line from the movie "Tangled" where the mean mom is singing "Mother Knows Best." There is a small line where she pinches Rapunzel's cheeks and sings, "...gettin' kinda chubby." Yes, my friends, Sam sings that to me often. And it makes me laugh. Life is good.

Hooray for a baby belly! I LOVE it. I hope you keep posting pictures as that sweet little lady keeps growing, it's so fun to see your pregnancy progress. And your little ballerinas are so sweet! Jacob and I made a whirlwind trip through Blackfoot on Saturday night picking up some cows (yes, cows- crazy). I was sending some love your way and thought good thoughts of you, seeing as though you really weren't too far away. I think. Maybe my geography is incredibly backwards. Wish so bad we could have made a visit. Love you!
